CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A "Do Not Drive" warning was issued for thousands of Ford vehicles as part of a recall regarding an issue that could cause a "loss of vehicle control."
According to a recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, thousands of Ford vehicles were recalled after the manufacturer learned that "the front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or incorrectly repaired at the vehicle assembly plant, allowing the control arm to disconnect from the front wheel knuckle."
This may result in "loss of vehicle control," which greatly increases the risk of a crash.
Included in the recall was a "Do Not Drive Warning" advising customers that the issue was serious enough that the vehicles should not be driven at all until fixed.
"Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy is completed," the recall read. "Dealers will inspect and repair the front lower control arm ball joints as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by June 5, 2026."
The affected vehicles were:
- Ford Bronco Sport 2021-2026
- Ford Maverick 2022-2026
